I visited the Light and Space Contemporary branch in Fairview yesterday. The artist-run gallery and residency studio features contemporary works of some of the country’s best artists. At this time, it showcases Ana Verayo’s “Badlands”.
Ana Verayo is an artist that works predominantly in mixed media and printing. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication at the University of the Philippines and has a background in publishing and advertising. She is also into space, galactic discoveries, and astronomy.
Thus her work displays an unearthly psychedelic appearance using only ceramic tiles and house paint. This masterpiece somehow echoes an idea of a visually aesthetic distant exoplanet.
The art is somehow satisfying and calming as bright and dark colors mix up. Really, a good art fix at the end of the week.
The Light and Space Contemporary is located at #53 Fairlane st., Fairview, Quezon City. The Badlands is displayed from June 16 to October 1, 2016.
